Jamie and Philip's Wedding
Jamie and Philip's Story
Jamie and Philip met at Denver International Airport three years ago to this day, on January 3, 2001. As a vegetarian, she couldn't believe that he raised cattle. As a born and bred Southerner, he felt all Yankees were objectionable. But they soon discovered that they shared an adoration of animals, a passion for sports (they even had the same softball glove!), and a pitifully accurate retention of college anthropology facts. Most importantly, Jamie and Philip learned that, in spite of their many superficial differences, they ahd common outlooks, goals and dreams.
Two-and-a-half months later, Jamie and Philip braved a cold Illinois night jsut to gaze at the stars from an old skeet shooting range that overlooked the Mississippi River. Afterwards, the two were inseparable. She got him addicted to Starbucks and the Sunday New York Times Magazine. Because of him, she's hooked on the band Alabama and boisterously cheers for SEC teams.
For her 25th birthday, Philip took Jamie out to look at the stars again. The couple was back in the same Illinois town where they had been when they first started dating. This time, instead of frost invading the old shooting range, there was a swarm of hungry mosquitoes. Undaunted, on August 21, 2002, Philip proposed. Jamie was utterly shocked. The official reply? "Of course."
