For nearly two years, I worked on a string of projects designed to integrate Meetup with Facebook and other social networks. The main initiative was the ability to push out updates to Facebook and Twitter in various places, and this successfully drove a lot of traffic back to Meetup.

We also allowed people to share their social networks on their Meetup profiles (this connected with the ability for members to login to Meetup using Facebook), and for Meetup Groups to do likewise, encouraging members to follow the groups across the web.
