Significant Projects The New York Times, Reader Insight Panel web site The Times needed a site exclusively for members of their Reader Panel - customers who take surveys and offer opinions on the newspaper. This site tracked individual members and earned readers points based on how many surveys they filled out. A fresh design was needed, with official artwork from the Times along with new photography, all keeping within the parameters of the Times's corporate branding. Subtle Flash effects on the home page completed the inviting feel of the site. Kraft Foods Inc. & Unilever, Brand Promotion Marketing I worked on promotion marketing campaigns for several brand-name products, offered by companies such as Kraft Foods and Unilever. Brands include Ragu, Stoned Wheat Thins, Peak Freens, and Lipton. I designed print advertisements and marketing materials promoting tie-ins with complementary foods and events: pairing Stoned Wheat Thins with Athenos Feta cheese, for example. One notable promotion married Ragu with Wheel of Fortune; a contest was created and Ragu was also promoted on the TV show. Bonjour of Switzerland, Web site and interactive Flash CD Bonswit.com offers indescribably beautiful bed linens and towels. Unfortunately, this presented the problem of how to demonstrate this quality over the web. I ended up relying on the company's beautiful photography and creating a sparse, light, airy feel in the design to replicate the softness of Bonjour's sheets. Every season, for years, I updated the web site with Bonjour's wide selection of patterns and colors. I also produced an interactive CD using Flash, that toured their selection and used soft movements and sounds to add to the luxurious mood of the entire product line. The successful Flash piece was then added to the web site as well. Janzer Corporation, E-Commerce web site Janzer is a leading manufacturer and innovator of mailboxes, signage and other home enhancements. I built their e-commerce site to walk customers through a sophisticated configurator that lets them personalize every inch of their robust custom mailbox - color, font, post style, newspaper holder, security, you name it. The design of the site complemented this system to convince users of the benefits of Janzer's high-end, durable, customized products. Need2Know Inc. , Project Management/CRS System After being promoted to overseeing all production at Need2Know (a web development company), I decided to create a new project management system to streamline and organize our operations. Previously, the company had been using several different methods informally; this system integrated all company procedures under one virtual roof. I planned out the system and its flow, personally designed the user interfaces, and managed its final implementation by our programmers. The web-based system tracked projects, updates and support tickets; included customer contacts; saved correspondence, comments, and documents related to each project; allowed staff to enter their billing time and then tracked that time against budgets; and tracked sales leads and proposals to ensure prompt client follow-ups. Upon its completion, I codified procedures for its use and successfully transitioned our company to the new system. Kidsbridge Children's Museum, Non-profit web site Kidsbridge promotes race unity and diversity in Trenton, NJ. We built their site pro bono and used a colorful kids-oriented design: a layout drawn in crayon and peppered with great photos of smiling kids. Like many of the web sites on this list, I maintain the site with updates and regular news additions - in this case, for over four years. Procter & Gamble, Educational CD-ROM This physician-targeted informational CD encompassed extensive Director programming, PowerPoint synchronization with videos of physician interviews, and sound editing. The project required me to collaborate and manage third party vendors for narration, video recording, and content development. Work & Family Benefits, Inc., E-business management In addition to designing and building the corporate web site for WFB, a huge employee benefits firm, I worked extensively on their e-business platform, called MyLifeValues. MyLifeValues is the lifeblood of WFB's offerings, acting as a central database of benefits help and knowledge for its clients' employees, as well as allowing each of those clients to control the information available to their own employees. I designed user interfaces for both the front-end and back-end of MyLifeValues, and managed the implementation of constant new programming features and upgrade projects. FYConsulting, Marketing Materials FYConsulting is a national management-consulting firm that specializes in ISO compliance. Their clients include Johnson & Johnson and National Starch and Chemical. I was responsible for developing corporate identity graphics and implementing the web and print marketing strategies. I also provided copyediting and production services for the web site and print materials. The results were a united brand among the company's business cards, collateral, sell sheets, web site, and other marketing materials. Chambord Liqueur & Pravda Vodka, Flash-powered web sites Owned by Jacquin's et Cie, these two well-known brands both needed beautiful, tasteful, attractive sites. Flash was decided upon to offer a sense of flowing mystery and classical minimalism in the design. For Chambord, I coordinated photo shoots as well as incorporating the company's ad campaign branding. The web site featured over 100 creative recipes using the product - ranging from cocktails to deserts. Both sites create immersive experiences conveying sophisticated lifestyle ideas. CCL Container, Interactive Kiosk The kiosk promoted products and educated customers during national trade shows for the $1 billion container manufacturer. The Macromedia Director project involved personally shooting product photography, designing the graphics and user interface, and incorporating animation and sound. Novartis Consumer Health, Marketing Collateral I provided graphic design direction for consumer advertising and product education materials for OTC cough/cold products: the Triaminic, TheraFlu, and Tavist brands. I also managed external production teams for both print and digital media. Some printed materials included newspaper ads, coupons, magazine inserts, in-store risers, and sell sheets for the company. Drew University, Editorial Leadership Back in college, as managing editor of the University's newspaper I directed a staff of 25 in the creation and production of over 30 issues per year. I coordinated editorial content, art direction and photography, advertisers, and created the paper's web presence. I also personally wrote numerous news articles, opinion columns, interviews, and reviews. Harris Levy Fine Linens, E-Commerce web site Harris Levy is a family-owned and operated retailer of high-end bed linens and accessories that has been located in the Lower East Side since 1894. The project required me to re-tailor the company's web presence and add e-commerce functionality. The look of the site needed to appeal to new customers while retaining familiar, loyal clients. The web site also had to cohere with the traditional in-person experience and keep a connection to the historical significance of the original New York storefront. Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Corporate Web Identity The medical center required a revised web presence to integrate a name change and the addition of facilities. The challenge involved uniting the diverse and competitive departments under one identity, while connecting the hospital to patients on a personal level. I achieved the solution by representing each department on the home page with its own friendly physician guide. The site architecture allowed each department to retain its personality while conforming to the corporate framework. In addition to developing the graphics and building the site, I also coordinated content from each department and incorporated interactive features and video interviews of physicians to enhance the experience.
